New 2018 Annual Easter Egg - Tulips By Elizabeth Todd
20 March 2018
Easter Egg
This year’s Easter Egg is delicately painted with Tulips with a striking black background by Elizabeth Todd. The tiny egg shape has always been used for this collection, which launched in 2007 with a beautiful crocus design by Fiona Bakewell. The shape has been the perfect canvas for our skilled artists to paint their unique designs showing flowers in natural settings creating a delightful miniature bouquet that not only never fades but is an Easter Egg that won’t affect your waistline! Only the very best artists are able to paint on a curved surface as the proportions of the design have to be maintained as the scene moves around the shape. And, like all Elliot Hall Enamels, the Eggs are completely freehand painted – meaning no prints or guidelines are ever used.Elizabeth uses the tiniest of her brushes and the most miniscule of delicate strokes to complete each painting and she signs each one. In addition, the eggs unscrew providing the perfect place to store a tiny memento!

New 2018 Annual Valentines Box - Barn Owls- EDITION SOLD OUT
14 February 2018
2018 Annual Valentine’s box – BARN OWLS
Carrying on the theme from 2017 this year’s annual Valentine’s Box is the 2nd box to feature birds, Barn Owls, appearing on this enchanting enamel. As adults, Barn Owls are solitary animals until they pair with a mate. They mate for life and become very emotionally attached to their partner. Barn Owls can often be seen cuddling with their partner and babies in their nest.
Sandra has pictured the Barn Owls so they enhance the contours of the Heart Shaped Valentine’s Box – both inside and out – and her delicate brushstrokes captures the amazing detail these animals have in their plumage. The box is the eight in the Annual Valentine’s Day series
The Barn Owl is considered to be one of the most widely distributed birds in the world. A species of Barn Owl can be found on every continent, with the exception of Antarctica. Barn Owls are not territorial or aggressive to other Barn Owls. A pair of owls will nest as close as 1/2 a mile from another nesting pair.

2017 Annual Christmas Vase - Spotted Woodpeckers
15 December 2017
The 2017 Christmas Vase
The Christmas Vase series highlights some of the beautiful birds that can be seen during the winter months. Many of the subjects featured on the ten vases in the collection have been natives of Britain such as the Robin (see the full list below) this years bird is the Greater Spotted WoodpeckerThe great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) is a medium-sized woodpecker with pied black and white plumage and a red patch on the lower belly. Males and young birds also have red markings on the neck or head. This species is found across Eurasia and parts of North Africa. Across most of its range it is resident, but in the north some will migrate if the conifer cone crop fails. Some individuals have a tendency to wander, leading to the recent recolonisation of Ireland and to vagrancy to North America. Great spotted woodpeckers chisel into trees to find food or excavate nest holes, and also drum for contact and territorial advertisement; they have anatomical adaptations to manage the physical stresses from the hammering action. It is similar to the less common lesser spotted woodpecker.
The great spotted woodpecker occurs in all types of woodlands and is catholic in its diet, being capable of extracting seeds from pine cones, insect larvae from inside trees or eggs and chicks of other birds from their nests. It breeds in holes excavated in living or dead trees, unlined apart from wood chips. The typical clutch is four to six glossy white eggs. Both parents incubate the eggs, feed the chicks and keep the nest clean. When the young fledge they are fed by the adults for about ten days, each parent taking responsibility for feeding part of the brood.
